Position Summary
Perform a variety of tasks in support of Parks and Recreation facilities operations including the development and implementation of educational programs, coordination of routine maintenance, conducting tours and accounting for reservation fees; promote community involvement in recreational programs and perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in environmental sciences, business administration or park management; and
Four (4) years of parks, open space or outdoor recreational program implementation experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator’s Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
May be required to work weekends/odd days off
Preferred Knowledge
- Principles and practices of supervision, evaluation and training
Basic operations and services of a Parks and Open Space program - Familiarity with principles and practices of skate park operations
- Office procedures, methods and computer equipment
- Principles and procedures of record keeping
- Basic mathematics principles
- English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation
- Recreational activities, rules and regulations
- Natural and cultural history of Parks and Open Space areas
- Basic cash handling procedures
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
- Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations
Preferred Skills & Abilities
- Interpret Parks and Open Space rules and regulations
- Learn the natural and cultural history of Parks and Open Space areas
- Familiarity with principles and practices of skate park users and spectators
- Learn basic cash handling procedures
- Develop and implement various educational activities
- Assist in environmental studies regarding undeveloped Parks and Open Space sites
- Respond to requests and inquires from the general public
- Work independently in the absence of supervision
- Select, train, direct, and supervise assigned personnel
- Oversee the work of lower level staff including volunteers and Resident Park Attendants
- Interpret and explain City policies and procedures
- Prepare clear and concise reports
- Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Salary: $40,268.80-$43,636.40
