Job Summary: PEEC is seeking a part-time Early Childhood Educator to deliver high-quality, mission-driven, hands-on environmental education programs to children ages 0-6. This role would include leading our community based Nature Playtime walk-up programs and PreK – Kindergarten school programs.

Salary, Hours, and Benefits: This position is hourly, and works around 20 hours per week, with seasonal fluctuations. The starting rate of pay is $19 – $21 per hour, depending on qualifications. Required Qualifications:
Experienced in teaching, designing, and implementing programs for early childhood education audiences or degreed from an accredited college/university in this area.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experienced in nature based early childhood programs
Experienced in working with diverse communities of learners
Connected to northern New Mexico communities in PEEC’s service area, including Española Valley and northern New Mexico Pueblos
Key Areas of Responsibility
Early Childhood Public Programs
Develop and teach weekly walk-in Nature Playtime programs at Los Alamos Nature Center every Monday from 10-11 am
Work with community partners to bring Nature Playtime lessons on tour to sites in Rio Arriba County several times per month (vehicle provided)
Envision, develop, and teach/lead programs serving young children, such as birthday parties and summer camps
Collect, report, and analyze program data, and look for ways to improve
School Programs
Work with other PEEC education staff to teach school programs at school sites, Los Alamos Nature Center, and outdoor sites in the region. This position will focus on pre-K and Kindergarten programs, but could include additional grade levels, as needed.
Nature Center, Outreach, and Events
Act as Staff on Duty during some open hours at the nature center
Staff PEEC booth, communicate with the public, and lead instructional activities at events
Attend and participate in annual PEEC events such as Earth Day, Bear Fest, and PEECnic
Act as a representative of PEEC at local and regional events, fairs, festivals, and STEAM days
Attend weekly staff meetings
