Position: Park Ranger Lead (2 openings)
Employer: Conservation Corps of New Mexico (CCNM)

Brief summary of work: The Park Ranger Lead is an hourly internship position that will support the BLM Las Cruces District Office (LCDO) and Public Lands Interpretative Association (PLIA) with leading 5 corpsmembers in completing a two-phased public land stewardship initiative. The first phase will focus on BLM LCDO projects such as environmental education, community outreach, habitat restoration, and trail/recreation site maintenance with the goal of helping to protect sensitive desert and riparian ecosystems while improving public access to public lands. For the second phase, Park Ranger leads will be responsible for managing logistics for PLIA’s Whiptail Trails Program, which engages local 7th and 8th grade students by providing classroom lessons and field trips focused on hiking and learning on public lands.

Position: Wildlife Rehabilitation Intern

Brief summary of work: Wildlife Rehabilitation Interns will assist in all aspects of care in the wildlife hospital with the goal of achieving the best outcome for each patient. This includes (but is not limited to): physical assessment and stabilization of incoming animals, food preparation and feeding, medication administration, record keeping, following veterinary orders, animal husbandry and care, and release preparation.

Position: Los Sembradores Farmer Training Program (7-10 apprentices)
Employer: New Mexico Acequia Association
Location: Northern New Mexico

Brief summary of work: Beginning in April 2026, 7-10 apprentices will participate in an 8-month program that includes three workshops per month. One workshop will take place at our demonstration site, Chicoyole Farm in Chamisal, led by Farmer Trainer Donne Gonzales, and two additional workshops will take place in acequia communities across northern New Mexico led by NMAA’s Food, Farm, and Seeds team. Workshops will include farm skills training, visitas with experienced farmers, and mutual aid workdays. Each apprentice will also develop their own garden/farm plot, applying the skills learned throughout the program. Los Sembradores recruits participants from acequia communities in northern New Mexico who are interested in strengthening agricultural traditions, increasing food production, and becoming active in their acequia communities.

Position: Valles Caldera National Preserve: Trail Technician Individual Placement
Employer: Rocky Mountain Youth Corps
Location: Valles Caldera Preserve, NM
Timeline: May 4th-November 13th
Brief summary of work: This position will work with Valles Caldera National Preserve on building, maintaining, and managing trails for environmental recreation and conservation purposes. This position primarily involves labor to connect the eastern portion of the preserve to the preserve’s network of trails, and increase trail access for the Los Alamos community. Much of this trail will include forests damaged by wildfire, and installing trail drainage and mitigation features will be a key duty of this position. Other duties include working as a team with host location staff and tracking data.

Position: Santa Fe National Forest: Trail Technician Individual Placement

Brief summary of work: This position will work with Santa Fe National Forest, alongside conservation crews, on building, scouting, maintaining, and managing trails in Wilderness and non-Wilderness settings. Position: Historic Preservation Lead Individual Placement

Brief summary of work: This position will work with Pecos National Historic Park on a range of historic preservation efforts. The member will be the primary liaison between RMYC and NPS staff in the repair and rehabilitation of corral at Kozlowski Trading Post, the repairs of the corner posts and gate intersections along highway 63 and replacement of other landscape fencing throughout Pecos National Historical Park. This position will be embedded with the crew and oversee the day-to-day work and reporting to NPS staff on progress, issues and concerns as they arise.

Position: Historic Preservation Lead Individual Placement

Brief summary of work: This Recreation Apprenticeship Program position will be hosted by the Mount Taylor Ranger District on the Cibola NF & NG to support a variety of outdoor recreation management activities, including trail construction and maintenance, developed recreation site upkeep, and dispersed recreation area stewardship. Members, working independently or as a group, will assist with building, maintaining, and repairing trails for environmental recreation, conservation, and resource protection purposes. They will perform tasks such as erosion control, tread repair, brushing, and sign installation. In addition to trail work, the position will involve maintaining, monitoring, repairing, and resource protection measures for developed and dispersed recreation sites such as campgrounds, picnic areas, trailheads, restrooms, and other facilities.

Position: Carson National Forest: Historic Outreach and Recreation Technician

Brief summary of work: This position will act as a collaborative liaison between local communities and theCarson National Forest in assisting in the development of a future interpretative recreational
management plan for the Carson NF section of the Old Spanish National Historic Trail, as well as local
trail systems in historically important locations including San Cristobal, the Taos Foothills, McGaffey
Canyon, and Miranda Canyon. The position will focus on community outreach; exploring ways to garner
more community involvement, integrating local and historic cultural knowledge into recreational

and tools is a key duty of this position. Trail work involves new trail construction, along with construction
