Virtual Community Conversations about COVID-19/Coronavirus

Greetings EE Community,

First and foremost, thank you all for all that you do every day to support our youth in engaging in the outdoors and environmental learning. As things continue to evolve and develop here in the Land of Enchantment in response to COVID-19, we at the Environmental Education Association of New Mexico are reminded of the resourcefulness and resilience of New Mexicans and are reaching out to offer support to our amazing community of educators, teachers, school administrators, and community members.

We’d like to offer some time and space to talk with all of you and do some group thinking around how to support one another during this time period. To that end, EEANM will be hosting two virtual community conversations on Monday, March 16th:
1) For MANAGERS, LEADERS, and ADMINISTRATORSMonday, March 16th from 2-3 p.m. – *Please click here to join via Zoom* – this conversation is geared towards those looking to make decisions regarding staff and organizations
2) For EDUCATORS, TEACHERS, and COMMUNITY MEMBERSMonday, March 16th from 3-4 p.m.– *Please click here to join via Zoom* – this conversation is geared towards those looking for more general support.

Along with our counterparts across the country, we’ve been exploring ideas of how to work together through this unprecedented time. The New Mexico Department of Health has a website with a wealth of resources on the 2019 Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) – http://cv.nmhealth.org as well as a phone hotline at 1-855-600-3453. Things are rapidly changing and today, there was a public health order issued suspending gatherings of more than 100 (https://www.governor.state.nm.us/2020/03/12/health-secretary-issues-public-health-order-suspending-mass-gatherings-in-new-mexico).
We will use these conversations to generate ideas and solutions of how to support our environmental education community and beyond during this time. Notes will be shared out over the list serve after the call for those that cannot attend in person.

In the meantime, if you cannot attend Monday’s conversations and have a question or idea to share, please email me at director@eeanm.org

Thank you,
Eileen Everett
